One night. Twenty-four guests. Four courses.
You’ve heard all this from me before, when I told you about my first supper club, Vegano Italiano, in May.
But this time I’m talking about my second pop-up, Asian Persuasion. It was another one-night-only event, hosted at the ever-wonderful Waiting Room in Whetstone, but this time I switched the focus to the zingy flavours of South-East Asia, in an all-vegan menu which made vegetables the stars of the show.

Asian Persuasion Supper Club
31 Aug 19
The Waiting Room ready and ~Waiting~ for guests to arrive
Tables set with hand-drawn place cards and vintage cutlery
Before guests sat down, they were treated to a welcome soft drink of lemonade spiked with ginger syrup and mint
Suddenly, it was time to eat! Coming in hot with a starter of chilli cauliflower bites
The first course featured double-baked chilli cauliflower bites, homemade chilli sauce, spring onion, radish, and dried seaweed.
Next up: sweet sticky sesame aubergine, as usual served on The Waiting Room’s gorgeous vintage china
A guest’s picture of the second course of sesame aubergine served with lightly pickled veg, pea shoots, and turmeric roasted cashews
A table full of nine happy guests!
Time for the main event… butternut laksa (a veganised version of Indonesian curried coconut soup)
The main course featured a spiced butternut soup, rice noodles, peanut tofu and flash-fried kale
Who knew cashews could make anyone this happy? Standing proud with one of my vegan cheesecakes, made using cashews and coconut cream
The cheesecake consisted of a ginger biscuit base, a coconut & lime filling and a set mango topping
A guest’s picture of their cheesecake, garnished with candied ginger, lime zest, and mint
Aaaand: chill! Me, looking fittingly exhausted and exhilarated after a wonderful service
Thank you so much for reading & watching! Be sure to keep an eye on the blog for news of my next supper club, because you know I’m not stopping now!
