On the 25th May 2019, I hosted my first pop-up event at The Waiting Room in Whetstone, where twenty lovely guests came to spend their Saturday night enjoying four freshly prepared vegan courses celebrating the flavours of Italy.
It was absolutely impossible not think about how far my supper club adventures have come since I hosted my very first one last year right from my living room at home and the whole evening felt so special I’m sure my arms must still be sore from pinching myself!
With no further humble bragging, let’s get into the photo gallery and a breakdown of the food (hover over or click on the image to see the caption!)
Vegano Italiano: 25th May 2019
Event poster that you may have seen a time or two in the last month
I am on a blackboard because I am special
The Waiting Room ready and waiting (ha) for the guests to arrive
A table laid for six, which happens to be the maximum I could host for at home!
Welcome drinks ready to go – cloudy lemonade with homemade basil syrup
Bruschetta starter ready to go!
The bruschetta was served on toast with rocket pesto and micro herbs
A guest’s quote: “the pesto set the whole thing off. Perfect.”
Course number two was hand made tortellini stuffed with roasted squash & spinach
The pasta was served with crispy fried sage leaves, red amaranth and a chilli garlic oil I’d been infusing for a month!
Next up was a fennel and pea risotto with pine nut Parmesan, pea shoots and micro herbs
This was many guests’ favourite course: “It’s better than any non-vegan risotto I’ve ever had!”
Dessert was a chocolate tart with a hazelnut biscuit base and a tangerine & prosecco jelly topping, plus a warm chocolate orange sauce for good measure!
Chocolate can make for a messy meal… but every plate came back clean! This was even MORE guests’ favourite course.
I cannot thank everybody who attended the event, and even more so those who helped me keep it running, enough! It was really a lovely evening, and I cannot wait to host many more like it.
If you missed out, be sure to keep an eye on the blog, my Instagram and my Facebook so that you can nab a ticket for future events.
